Assumes ~80% of the rated boot is usable for rigid bags (suitcases don't tessellate); soft duffels squash to ~85% of their volume. Boot figures are manufacturer-rated with all seats up. Cars without a published boot figure aren't listed.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many suitcases fit in a compact SUV boot?

A typical 380–450 litre compact-SUV boot realistically takes two large (28–30") check-in suitcases, or one large plus one medium and a cabin bag — because a suitcase occupies far more boot space than its packing capacity (a '95-litre' large case has a ~130-litre external footprint) and only ~80% of rated volume is usable. The classic airport load of two large suitcases plus two cabin bags needs ~365 usable litres, which most compact SUVs only manage with the parcel shelf out.

Why can't I use the full rated boot litres?

Rated boot volume is measured by filling the space with small blocks — but suitcases are rigid boxes that leave gaps, wheel arches intrude, and the parcel shelf caps height. Our checker applies an 80% packing factor for rigid bags, which matches real-world loading much better than the brochure number.

Which cars have the biggest boot in India?

Among mainstream cars, three-row SUVs and MUVs in 5-seat configuration lead — 600+ litres with the third row folded or absent. Among compact SUVs and sedans, anything above 450 litres is genuinely large. Use the checker above with your actual bags rather than chasing the biggest number: a well-shaped 400-litre boot often beats a poorly-shaped 450.
