Dealer Quote Checker

Got a quotation from a showroom? Enter its line items below and see each one audited against computed values: which charges are fixed by law, which are estimates you can shop around, and which are pure dealer margin you can negotiate away. You can save the result as a branded PDF report to carry to the showroom. Nothing is stored, no sign-up, no dealer ever sees this.

Now the line items from the dealer's quote — fill whichever appear (leave the rest blank):

How to read the verdicts

  • ✓ Fair — matches what the law or market says it should be. Pay it without argument.
  • ! Check — legitimate line, negotiable amount. Insurance, accessories and extended warranty live here: real products, dealer-chosen prices.
  • ✗ High — above what the published rules produce, or a charge with no government basis. Ask for the computation, or ask for it to be removed. Dealers drop these lines far more often than buyers expect.

The math behind the verdicts is the same verified state-slab engine that powers every on-road price on this site — see how we verify. For the full anatomy of a dealer quote, read every line of a dealer quote, decoded.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the CarSahiHai Score?

A 0–100 score for your dealer quote: 100 minus a penalty for how far the quote sits above our computed fair total (verified state road-tax slab + typical insurance + correct TCS + your optional items at quoted value). 90+ means a sahi deal; below 75 means real money is on the table — the flagged lines show exactly where. You can download the score as a shareable card.

Are dealer handling charges legal in India?

Courts and consumer forums have repeatedly held that forced handling or logistics charges over and above the ex-showroom price are an unfair trade practice — they are dealer margin, not a government levy. In practice many dealers still add them, and most will waive or reduce them under pushback rather than lose a sale.

Do I have to buy insurance from the dealer?

No. Insurance is legally yours to buy from any IRDAI-registered insurer. The dealer's quote is a convenience bundle that's often ₹5,000–20,000 above an equivalent online quote for the same IDV. Compare before you pay — it's the single most negotiable line in the quote.

What is TCS on a car quote?

Tax Collected at Source — exactly 1% of the ex-showroom price, applicable only on cars above ₹10 lakh. It's collected by the dealer, deposited against your PAN, and adjustable against your income-tax liability when you file returns. If your car is under ₹10 lakh and TCS appears on the quote, question it.

Can I refuse bundled accessories and extended warranty?

Yes — both are optional by definition. Bundled accessory kits are routinely priced above the sum of their parts, and extended warranties can usually be bought separately later. A dealer cannot make either a condition of sale, though allocation pressure on high-demand cars is often used to imply otherwise.

How do I actually negotiate at the showroom?

Once you enter your quote's lines, the tool generates a ready-to-say script for each flagged charge — what to ask about inflated road tax, how to decline bundled insurance, and how to get handling charges removed — plus a closing line with your computed fair total. Copy it or share it to WhatsApp, and say it calmly, in order. Don't contest lines that check out as fair; selective pushback is what gets taken seriously.

How accurate is the road tax figure this tool computes?

We compute road tax from each state's published slab structure (percentage of ex-showroom by price band and fuel type), verified against state notifications — the same math behind every on-road price on this site. Minor registration fees vary slightly by RTO, so we allow a small tolerance before flagging a quote.
