The 2026 festive calendar for car buyers

Ganesh Chaturthi14 SeptemberFestive sales formally begin (Maharashtra & South lead)
Navratri11–19 OctoberThe main buying window opens; offers usually peak
Dussehra19 OctoberThe single biggest delivery day of the year (Abujh Muhurat)
Dhanteras6 NovemberTraditional big-purchase day — deliveries max out, stock runs thin

Want delivery on Dussehra or Dhanteras? Check your model's current waiting period and count backwards — popular variants need booking 4–10 weeks ahead.

Turn the offer into a clean deal

A festive offer is only real if the rest of the quote is clean — dealers routinely give with the discount hand and take with the handling-charges hand. Run your quotation through the dealer quote checker to get your CarSahiHai Score, and inspect before you pay with the PDI checklist.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will car discounts get better closer to Diwali?

Usually offers deepen through Navratri and peak around Dhanteras — but on popular variants the discount you can actually get often worsens because stock and delivery slots run out. The pattern that repeats every year: maximum stated offer near Dhanteras, maximum negotiating room in early October while dealers still chase targets with inventory in hand.

Are festive discounts better than December year-end discounts?

December discounts are typically bigger on paper, but the car is then registered in the outgoing year — which costs you more at resale than the extra discount saves. For most buyers the festive window is the better net deal; December suits only those keeping the car 8+ years.

How is 'discount as % of on-road price' computed?

We take the maximum verified benefit (consumer offer + exchange/scrappage bonus) for each model and divide it by our computed fair on-road price for the base variant in Delhi — ex-showroom plus the state's published road tax, insurance estimate and TCS. It's the honest measure of leverage: ₹60,000 off a ₹8 lakh car is a far bigger deal than off a ₹20 lakh one.

Where do these discount numbers come from?

A weekly verification run every Friday against dealer-offer roundups and market sources, cross-checked and recorded with sources — the same append-only tracker behind our discounts page, running since July 2026. Numbers are maximums; your city and variant may differ, which is exactly what the stacked offer summary per model spells out.
